Kolam - Stencil Kit

 Kolam is the traditional, ephemeral artistic ritual of decorating the entrance of homes with intricate, geometric designs drawn in rice flour. This daily practice is thought to bring prosperity and symbolizes auspiciousness and good luck.

Customarily kolams were created with rice flour so that birds, squirrels, and ants may all eat the rice flour. They were intended to be in the spirit of sharing with all living beings.

Our pattern ‘Kolam’ draws from the joy of these drawings and unites hand-block print and embroidery in a beautiful checkerboard layout.
